Day Light Award 2024 | May 2024
The spiritual qualities of daylight
Abstract, mostly white forms with only a minimum of visible details and a masterful lighting design – Alberto Campo Baeza has become internationally renowned for this architecture. This year, the Spanish architect was honoured with the Daylight Award in Denmark for his sensitive use of daylight.
Eliminating materiality to maximise the impact and expressivity of natural white daylight.
- ‘The architectural projects of the 2024 winner, Alberto Campo Baeza, are restrained and quiet examples of sensual, alluring and poetic qualities in the architectural articulation of daylight. Campo Baeza’s works honour the quiet wonders of daylight in buildings with very different functions. His buildings illustrate the spiritual qualities of daylight and thus expand the understanding of the values of daylight beyond the current scientific framework.’ Jury of Daylight Award
